Episode 013 – a good day after all

[Coffee Shop]

That morning Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu opened the shop which was greeted with no customers. The only customer that enter the shop was an old lady that mistaken the shop for another shop. After hours of sitting around waiting Minh Tuyet began to get frustrated with the shop and the others ladies.

“Where is everyone?” Minh Tuyet paces back and forth.

“Just give them some time.” Bang Kieu comforts.

“I… We worked so hard cleaning this shop up and the day of the re-opening no one come to support.”

“You do remember what happened here the past weeks?”

“I do, but I work so hard…” Minh Tuyet frowns.

At that same moment Bao Han and Nhu Loan enters the shop with shopping bangs in both their hands.

“Did we go into the wrong shop?” Bao Han questions.

Nhu Loan places down the bags, “Where is everyone?”

“That’s what I want to know too.” Minh Tuyet folds her arm.

“We went shopping for you. Don’t get mad!” Bao Han picks up a pink medium size bag and hands it to Minh Tuyet.

Minh Tuyet digs her hand into the bag, “What did you get me?”

“Two brand new coffee cup.” Nhu Loan jumps in excitement.

“You do know I work at a coffee shop. There are hundred of cups here.”

“I told you she wouldn’t like it.” Bao Han whispers angrily at Nhu Loan.

“We know you work here, but these are special. Take it out and take a look.” Nhu Loan insists.

Minh Tuyet takes out the two coffee cups with one having a male bear and one with a female bear imprint on it. Both had pink hearts of all different shape floating endlessly in the sky.

“That is so sweet of you guys.” Minh Tuyet hugs the ladies.

“Is this one for me?” Bang Kieu picks up the one with the male bear.

“We don’t know ask your girlfriend.” Bao Han pushes Minh Tuyet toward Bang Kieu.

Before Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu kisses the door of the shop spring open. “That’s why you have no customers.” Van Quynh teases as she enters with her two friends, Angela Tram Anh and Huynh Gia Tuan.

“We do have customers.” Minh Tuyet lies.

“Your friends don’t count.”

“What took you so long?” Minh Tuyet asks.

“I went to pick them up. This is two of my best friend at school, Angela and Huynh Gia Tuan.” Van Quynh introduces.

Everyone in the shop introduces each other and shakes hands. After they were finish Van Quynh and her friends sit down at one table while Nhu Loan and Bao Han sit at a different table. Bang Kieu and Minh Tuyet resume back behind the counter faking to make coffee so on-going customers would be interest.

“This is a big waste of time.” Nhu Loan leans on the table with the palm of her hand.

Bao Han yawns, “Tell me about it.”

“Where is Tu Quyen?”

“Hang over I bet. She drank so much last night.” Bao Han laughs.

At that same moment the door of the shop spring open widely and standing at the door was Tu Quyen covering in wet mud; her hair float backward slowly because of the cool breeze blown from inside the shop. Tu Quyen steps inside the shop – step by step she walks close to Minh Tuyet and Bang Kieu.

“STOP RIGHT THERE!” Minh Tuyet screams.

“What happen to you?” Nhu Loan stands up from her chair slowly.

“Don’t ask.” Tu Quyen points at Nhu Loan.

“You’re cover in wet mud.” Bao Han raises her eyebrow.

“No. I was splash with water and then fell into mud.” Tu Quyen corrects.

Van Quynh laughs, “Seem like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.”

“Shut up or I will shoot you.” Tu Quyen looks angrily at Van Quynh as she walks over and sits herself at Nhu Loan and Bao Han’s table.

“What happen to her?” Bang Kieu whispers at Minh Tuyet.

“She had a big fight with Andy.” Minh Tuyet whisper back. “She’s making our shop look even more pathetic then it already is.”

“You can’t just kick her out.”

“Watch me.” Minh Tuyet kisses Bang Kieu as she walks toward Tu Quyen. “Honey I appreciate you being here to support me, but you’re in a mess. You should go home and take a big bubble bath.”

“I want to be here for your big day.” Tu Quyen tries to wipe the mud of her face.

“I don’t think you’ll miss out on much.”

“You’re right this place is empty.”

Minh Tuyet tries to walk Tu Quyen out of the shop without touching her. At the front door Tu Quyen hugs Minh Tuyet making her red dress with white poky dots turn brown. Everyone outside of the shop stop to stare at the messy scene.

Minh Tuyet screams in disgust, “Why did you do that?”

“I forgot I was corer in mud.”

Inside of the coffee shop everyone stare with surprise and open jaws. Everyone was waiting for Minh Tuyet to blows up and scream at Tu Quyen with rage.

Minh Tuyet was about to go buzzard on Tu Quyen when a blonde hair bombshelled beauty, Dalena, steps forward, “I’ve never seen any thing so unique.”

“What…?” Both Minh Tuyet and Tu Quyen look at the beautiful woman.

“Usually I only see billboard or coffee cup as your entertainer to bring in customer, but this… is just phenomenal.” Dalena claps.

“I thought of this.” Minh Tuyet hugs Tu Quyen with pleasure not minding the mud.

Everyone in the shop eyes budges with amazement and astonish. Customer continues to enters the shop with sparks and smile in their eyes and on their faces. The shop was so busy that Minh Tuyet asks Nhu Loan, Bao Han, Van Quynh and her friends to help serve coffee.

“How did this happen?” Nhu Loan stirs the coffee.

“Less talk more stirring.” Minh Tuyet orders.

Bao Han makes an angry face, “It’s all Tu Quyen’s fault.”

“I thought you say this was going to be fun.” Angela gripes.

“I did too.” Van Quynh rolls her eyes.

“Keep working there’s a long line out there.” Bang Kieu rushes.

Dalena made her way to the counter, “That was such a bright idea. How did you think of it?”

“Uh… Well I thought that having a pile of mud would represent a new beginning because….” Minh Tuyet stutters.

“Mud…? I thought it was supposed to be coffee.” Dalena questions loudly which made the customers leans over to hear what Minh Tuyet had to say.

“Now this is the real entertainment.” Van Quynh elbows Angela and Huynh Gia Tuan.

“It does suppose to be coffee.” Minh Tuyet hits her head with her palm.

“But you just said mud.”

“I did… And yes it does mean both coffee and mud because this is a coffee shop.” Minh Tuyet laughs nervously. “The mud part is because this place has just recently been clean up and when a building is rebuilt or re discovery, it starts out as mud.”

Van Quynh, Bang Kieu, Nhu Loan, Bao Han, Angela, and Huynh Gia Tuan jaws were wide open because of what Minh Tuyet had just made up. However, the customers all began to applause at her statement about the mud and coffee. Minh Tuyet smile with bride as she bows at the loudly applauding audience.

[Xi Shi Park]

In dried up mud Tu Quyen walks hopelessly to a bench in the infamous Xi Shi Park. Tu Quyen place herself heavily down on the dark green bench where she sigh at her horrible day.

“Why am I having such a bad day?”

“Because you’re making it a bad day…” Reply from a male voice.

Tu Quyen turns her head around and at her eye sight stands Luong Tung Quang with a bright red rose in his hand.

“This is for you.” Luong Tung Quang hand Tu Quyen the rose.

“Thank you… Ouch.” Tu Quyen screams as she jerks her hand at the pain she receives from the needles on the rose stem and smacks herself in the face.

Luong Tung Quang laughs as he helps Tu Quyen, “Are you ok?”

“I’m covering in mud and just made a fool of myself in front of a guy that’s trying to give me a rose. What do you think?” Tu Quyen says in a sarcastic tone.

“You must have a time of your life.”

“You’re kidding me right?”

“Not everyone gets a chance to do or look the way you do today.”

“What do you mean? I look terrible.”

“You look absolutely beautiful even when you’re covered in mud.”

Tu Quyen’s cheeks began to turn bright red, “Thank you.”

“My name is Luong Tung Quang. What is your?” Luong Tung Quang introduces himself.

“Mine is Tu Quyen.”

“Do you remember me?” Luong Tung Quang seems amaze.

“Not really.”

“I was one of the hostile citizens in the coffee shop a few weeks ago.”

“The one that try to shoot, but ran out of ammunition.” Tu Quyen remembers.

Luong Tung Quang scratches his head, “Well I tried.”

“I was just kidding.”

“You were so brave and courageous.”

“You were yourself.” Tu Quyen smile.

“Well here is the prettiest rose for the prettiest woman here.” Luong Tung Quang hands Tu Quyen the rose.

Tu Quyen carefully holds the rose so she wouldn’t get hurt again, “Thank you! You’re so sweet.”

“Well I’m going to leave you alone now.” Luong Tung Quang walks backward slowly and nervously.

“Thanks for the rose again.” Tu Quyen swings the rose which causes it to break in half. Tu Quyen makes a shock face as she hide the rose behind her back.

Luong Tung Quang turn back to face Tu Quyen and gave a nervous smile, “I’ll be leaving now.”

Tu Quyen waves stiffly, “Ok I’ll see you around.”

“Would you like to go on a date with me? It’s ok if you’re already taken.” Luong Tung Quang asks quickly.

“Yes…”

“I knew it as beautiful as you are of course you’re taken.” Luong Tung Quang walks away.

“No… I mean I would love to go on a date.” Tu Quyen laughs.
Luong Tung Quang turns around with a big smile on his face, “Is tomorrow night ok? I’ll pick you up.”

“See you tomorrow.” Tu Quyen smile.

“One last thing… You’re sitting on wet paint this whole time.”

Tu Quyen rolls her eyes as she stand up. Dark green paint trail down the side of her back blending in with the mud that was already on her, “Great… Thank you.”

Luong Tung Quang walks off leaving Tu Quyen staring happily at her new date. Tu Quyen skips home with a huge smile and broken rose in her hand even if she was covered in mud and paint. “Today is a good day after all.” Tu Quyen closes the door of the house.
